Action SA leader Herman Mashaba’s decision to maltreat his party’s former provincial leader in Limpopo Sello Lediga has come back to haunt him.
This is after his trusted premier candidate Kgoshi Letsiri Phaahla served his party with divorce papers to wed former president Jacob Zuma’s new political toy Umkhonto weSizwe (MK) party.
The Azanian was informed that Mashaba axed Lediga because he refused to be remote controlled like a political chihuahua because he is the former ANC senior leader who is politically and intellectually pregnant. Another source said Mashaba dumped Lediga to use Phaahla as a traditional leader in Limpopo to woe more supporters from the villages.
ActionSA national chairperson Michael Beaumont who ate a humble pie with his leader Mashaba announced that Victor Mothemela who is relatively unknown despite serving as Action SA’s head of campaigns will replace Phaahla.
“ActionSA welcomes the departure of such compromised leaders from its ranks prior to an election before they sit in a legislature where they abuse the role of public servant for their own ends,” Beaumont said.
ActionSA’s communications director, Samkelo Mgobozi said it was later found out that Phaahla had been negotiating his membership of MK party for some time, while extolling the virtues of ActionSA in the campaign.
“It's believed from credible sources that Phaahla was offered some inducements to join the MK. This is the kind of patronage politics that has no place in ActionSA,” Mgobozi.
