ANC Peter Mokaba Region Chairperson John Makoro Mpe continues to defeat his political nemeses.
Leader of the disgruntled Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) Lawrence Mapoulo has been told to refrain from behaving like a desperate political chihuahua after organising an illegal shutdown march which was met with rejection.
Spokesperson for the African National Congress (ANC) in the Peter Mokaba Region Adolph Rapetswa has made it clear Mapoulo is suffering from political muddle witch-hunt tendencies because the NPA did not charge their consummate leader Regional Chairperson John Makoro Mpe, in relation to the events of Jujuvalley which was purely on the basis of sound legal judgement.
“The ANC condemns the intimidation of law enforcement agencies and unsubstantiated accusations of corruption by Mr Mapoulo This decision was not based following political considerations of non-entities such as Mapoulo. The withdrawal of the charges against Cde Jossey Buthane reaffirms our stance that there was no cogent case to respond to. We have noted with disgust the illegal shutdown which was organised today by the desperate EFF under the expired leadership of Mr Mapoulo,” said Rapetswa.
“We really want to reiterate that whilst the right to peacefully demonstrate is guaranteed in the Constitution of the Republic, an illegal shutdown has no place in our democratic dispensation. In fact, if anything, the march exposed itself for what it really is - frivolous and cheap politicking by the EFF. Whereas the march was pronounced to be about genuine service delivery issues, none of the utterances of Mr Mapoulo had anything to do with basic services but the infantile disorder devoid of any truth and facts.”
The ANC in the Peter Mokaba Region through its spokesperson, Rapetswa further lambasted the EFF following its unorthodox disorderly conduct. “We take serious exception against the threats by the EFF at public safety and implore law enforcement agencies to work without fear and favour to safeguard the rights of residents and protection of property. On the operations of Leeto la Polokwane, the BRT bus service run by Polokwane Municipality, Mr Mapoulo’s ignorance is forgiven,” said Rapetswa.
“The fact of the matter is that the taxi industry is a major stakeholder and partner in Leeto la Polokwane ran as part of implementing the National Land Transport Act 5 of 2009 (NLTA), which informed the integrated transport system. The ANC encourages residents to always find peaceful and democratic ways of interacting with their government without falling prey to mischievous politicking of political parties. Lastly, the choice by the EFF to opt for an illegal shutdown rather than participating in the Ward 39 Polokwane by-elections further underscores their populist and demagoguery politics.”
