The African National Congress in Limpopo has welcomed the decision of the Polokwane High Court which stroked off the roll and dismissed with costs a case in which a disgruntled member of the ANC Veterans League Jacob Marule sought to nullify the outcomes of the ANC Veterans League provincial conference which took place in June this year.
ANC provincial spokesperson Jimmy Machaka said on October, 31 2023 , the Polokwane High Court ruled against the Marule and stroked off his urgent application from the urgent roll with costs , this was after the case was vigorous opposed and when the applicant failed to persuade the Court as to why he waited as far as from June 2023 and only lodged an application four months after the conference, the applicant further failed to show cause as to what practical steps he undertook in order to exhaust the internal remedies before approaching the Court.
“The ANC welcomes the decision of the High Court that has clearly confirmed that the road Leading up to the ANCVL Limpopo Provincial Conference was above board and all was done in accordance with the rule book, that aggrieved members should first exhaust the internal remedial measures before approaching the courts for any recourse and further that courts are not appropriate platforms to resolve political issues,” Machaka said.
The ANC in Limpopo called upon all members of the ANCVL in Limpopo to rally behind the elected leaders of the Provincial Executive Committee as led by their comrades Nkoana Sechaba and Phala Phiroane as Chairperson and Secretary respectively.
