Bolsheviks Party national secretary Seun Mogotji emulating Nelson Mandela.
Bolsheviks Party national secretary Seun Mogotji has emulated Nelson Mandela by spending a day at the Tswelopele Centre for the Disabled in Marapong by inviting offenders from the correctional services department to help with erecting a permanent structure for the centre.
The centre has been running for over ten years before it moved to Marapong it was at Thabakhubedu renting a church.
Mogotji said however the current location of the centre is not ideal for children living with disabilities. “I noted with sadness several issues of concern that need urgent attention and I’m hoping the municipality and other good Samaritans will come on board and lend a helping hand. We ask the Executive Mayor Minah Bahula to engage departments like social services to come on board as well, their assistance will go a long way,” said Bolsheviks Party leader.
“On my visit today, I invited offenders from the correctional services department to help with erecting a permanent structure for the centre, but the resources are very limited and at the current pace it might take years to complete. The children are presently using a shack as their classroom and kitchen.”
Bolsheviks Party leader said however the centre needs proper classroom and kitchen structures which are accessible and user friendly for people using wheelchairs, proper wheelchair friendly lavatories and electricity connection.
“At the moment the place has no electricity, and the centre is using wood and fire to cook. Electricity is indeed needed as well as wheelchairs are needed because the ones they have now are worn out. We are making an appeal to everyone who can donate whatever little they can so that the disabled children of Tswelopele Centre for the Disabled can never go through another cold winter season without adequate clothing, blankets and other needs,” Mogotji said.
“We appreciate the donations that have been coming through like a borehole that was donated by a good Samaritan and grocery supplies, but the Municipality and Social Services must also be actively involved. We believe in our Executive Mayor; she has shown her humanity before, and we know she is capable of assisting Tswelopele centre to continue operating and taking care of the disabled children.”
