Polokwane Executive Mayor and Peter Mokaba Region Chairperson John Makoro Mpe ready to rumble controversial former ANC MP Boy Mamabolo.
Controversial pompous former ANC MP Boy Mamabolo is in hot water with Executive Polokwane Mayor and ANC Peter Mokaba Region Chairperson John Makoro Mpe following character assassination tendencies which included death threats and sexual assault allegations.
Mpe who will contest for a third term has been targeted by his political nemeses who want to unseat and oust him as ANC Peter Mokaba Regional Chairperson. His sin was refusing to be remote controlled by the destructors of President Cyril Ramaphosa who didn’t want him to win a second term but opted to support the disgraced former Health Minister Zweli Mkhize who lost to Ramaphosa during the 55th ANC national elective conference.
The Azanian can confirm that Mpe, the Commander in Chief of Peter Mokaba Region on 30 April 2024 instituted a High Court action in the Polokwane High Court for defamation in which he is claiming the amount of R8 million from Mamabolo known as "Mr My Perfect Wedding" in the National Assembly after wearing a white suit and a black tie while attending parliament session in Cape Town.
The no-nonsense militant Mpe instructed his lawyer Kgabo Maponya to take Mamabolo on regarding Mamabolo and the recent sexual assault allegations levelled against him by his wife, Khomotso Mamabolo.
The Azanian has seen Whatsapp messages, on 12 March 2024, which Mamabolo made serious threats that he will hire a hitman to kill or assassinate Mpe as he believes that he and Reuben Madadzhe, the Provincial Secretary of the ANC in Limpopo have excluded him from the list of members to be deployed to Parliament after the general elections. Mamabolo stated that he does not "forgive people who take bread away from his table”.
Maponya also confirmed that on 22 March 2024, Mamabolo published false and wrong information about the cancellation of Mpe’s annual marathon and music festival at Ga-Molepo with the aim of making the event unsuccessful which was scheduled for 23 March 2024. The Azanian has also seen a copy of the flyer distributed on social media.
The Azanian can confirm that on 30 March 2024, Mpe opened a case at Polokwane Police Station against Mamabolo for conspiracy to commit murder as he was planning to hire a hitman to kill or assassinate him. The case number is CAS 672/3/2024 which is investigated by Warrant Officer Pansegrouw.
And on 10 April 2024, Mamabolo wrote an email to Mpe’s lawyers and indicated that his wife will lay sexual harassment charges against Mpe which will automatically put Mpe on “step aside” as the Executive Mayor and Regional Chairperson of the ANC in Peter Mokaba Region.
When pressed for comment, Mamabolo who did not live up to expectation to defuse EFF leader Julius Malema in parliament threatened to sue The Azanian if it published the story despite giving him a right to reply after seeing legal woes against him.
“My wife has never opened a case against anyone, whoever has that information must bring it to us and tell us the source of the information so that we can take legal action,” he said.
When asked about his death threats and hiring a Hitman to kill or assassinate Mayor Mpe, the egotistical Mamabolo said: “I was never arrested, so I wouldn’t know. We have sued many people who have tried to drag our names in the mud or mention them in public without our consent. Should you do it, we will act against you and your company,” confirming to The Azanian that he has served Sunday World newspaper with a legal letter after they published the story about him.
In his other attempt to prevent The Azanian from publishing the story, Mamabolo sent a picture of a legal High Court Polokwane document he sent to the Minister of the Police and the NPA on 29 April 2024.
“Ask, this one's (referring to the Police Minister and NPA). I don't play when it comes to my name. I have enough money strength to fight. You will get people to be fired from work. Those sources will be obliged to come out and justify...And I repeat, my wife has never opened a case against anyone…whoever gave you that false information must come out so that we can deal with him or her,” he said arrogantly.
Meanwhile, in 2020, the controversial Mamabolo was found guilty of contravening ANC Constitution rules and bringing the party and its parliamentary caucus into disrepute.
The then party Chief Whip Pemmy Majodina wrote a letter to reprimand Mamabolo for verbally abusing a newspaper journalist Ngwako Malatji. Mamabolo was ordered to write an apology to Malatji, the general public and to attend an anger management course.
Mamabolo pleaded guilty to all the charges levelled against him.
“I pleaded guilty to all the charges that I was facing for insulting and threatening Sunday World journalist Mr Ngwako Malatji. I pleaded guilty because I wanted us to deal with this matter as soon as possible. I’m going to apologise to Mr Malatji because I believe in media freedom and as a public representative, I’m expected to behave myself in the manner that is dignified. From now on, I know that a private conversation on a cell phone is not different from what we are doing in public. I will be apologising to Mr Malatji, Sanef and also the public at large.”
The ANC Parliamentary Caucus instituted an internal disciplinary process against Mamabolo for the verbal abuse of Malatji. The Caucus denounced Mamabolo’s behaviour, saying that it strives to maintain a cordial relationship with members of the media and respects the Constitutional values and Bill of Rights.
That included freedom of expression as well as the freedom of the press and other media to do its work.
