The Congress of Traditional Leaders of South Africa (Contralesa) has vowed to support ANCYL provincial chairperson Tonny Rachoene during his campaigns of the ruling party ahead of the much anticipated next year’s national elections.
The first woman to be elected as the provincial chairperson of Contralesa Kgoshigadi Nkweng Seopela gave salutation to Rachoene’s leadership with his ANCYL comrades following their mission entitled “# Magoshi Friday”, of visiting various traditional leaders in all regions across Limpopo.
Traditional leaders in Limpopo earlier expressed their discontentment to the ANC provincial executive committee that Premier Stan Mathabatha and his administration neglected them.
Kgoshigadi Seopela told The Azanian that Rachoene has revived the ANC in Limpopo because most traditional leaders were beginning to lose hope with the ruling party. “We want to thank Rachoene for reviving our morale. Traditional leaders in Limpopo were disappointed with the ANC for various reasons. Rachoene is a good example of a young consummate leader who respects elders. Traditional leaders in Limpopo didn’t want anything to do with the ANC but the ANCYL in Limpopo under Rachoene’s leadership reinvigorated us. Contralesa will support the ANC during the next coming elections.”
Contralesa President Mathupa Mokoena recognised and applauded the ANCYL in Limpopo for creating a good relationship with traditional leaders in Limpopo. “Rachoene is a good leader who respects elders and will vote for him. People like him are scarce therefore we promise him that Contralesa will support him,” he said.
Earlier, Peter Mokaba regional chairperson John Makoro Mpe and ANCYL provincial chairperson Rachoene respectively donated a brahman cow and groceries to Chief Malesela Solomon Dikgale as a sign of appreciation to the traditional authorities in Limpopo.
“Our elders in the form of traditional leaders are the mirrors of our nation who can provide a clear picture in our communities in terms of service delivery by our government. They are the most potent integral part of our lives. Indeed they are a mouthpiece between the communities and government. Our traditional leaders are the rare glue needed by the ANC and its youth wing in our bid for renewal,” Rachoene said.

“We cannot live without our traditional leaders. We need their wisdom for they are our shield and saviours. They are our parents and the ANC in Limpopo cannot live without their wisdom. We will strengthen our relationship with them as we continue our visits to their traditional authorities.”
Polokwane Mayor Mpe said: “The most potent weapon is to respect your traditional leaders. You must also know your roots, values, norms and beliefs. You can never claim sanity if you don’t know where you come from and where you are going. Our traditional leaders remain the most important integral part of our lives. We must teach our children to respect them and plant that seed of appreciating the traditional authorities. We are proud of the ANCYL for their profoundness and respecting their elders and traditional leaders.”
Meanwhile, Rachoene's Annual Charity Tournament for both Under 19 soccer and netball tournaments will resume from 16 to 26 December 2023 at Kgwaratlou Sports Ground in Ga-Mphahlele.
