Jossey Buthane arrested for attempted murder.

The ANC in Limpopo will regret accepting love back from controversial politician and former EFF provincial leader Jossey Buthane who served EFF with divorce papers after his fall-out with his former childhood friend EFF president Julius Malema.

Barely a month after returning to the ANC, Buthane was arrested for attempted murder. A nine-year-old girl Tshiamo Lebaka was shot in the face during door-to-door campaign violent attacks between the ANC and EFF in Juju Valley in Seshego on Sunday.

Buthane handed himself to Seshego police station and was released on a R5000 bail after appearing before local magistrate’s court.  The case was postponed to July 2, 2024. Reportedly, Buthane was seen charging at Malema’s party supporters at Juju Valley.

Despite that the EFF members prevented the ANC members from doing their door-to-door campaign claiming that Juju Valley which was named after Malema is a “no go area”, the commander in chief has condemned the incident which left people injured.

Malema lambasted Polokwane Executive Mayor John Mpe and his bodyguards for carrying guns in public following a video clip which was circulated in various social media platforms. He said Mpe and his bodyguards must be arrested as well, stressing that the police must not be biased. “Mayor of Polokwane must take full responsibility for his actions. He took out a firearm at Juju Valley and he was charging at people who were throwing stones at them. Gunshots were heard and his bodyguards also took out firearms. The role of bodyguards in South Africa is not to shoot people. Once you see bodyguards shooting at people who are shooting at them you must know that they are no longer bodyguards but gangsters, that gangsterism. John Mpe is a leader of a gangster, what the mayor did is unjustifiable. And why the mayor is not arrested to date I don’t understand and all of those ANC anarchists who took out firearms. There’s clear evidence in camera that they took out firearms. Some of them know that they don’t have licensed firearms. They have to explain to the police where they get those firearms,” said Malema.

ANC provincial spokesperson Jimmy Machaka said the ANC has opened criminal cases against the EFF and the police are investigating the matter. Machaka said the conflict between the EFF and ANC at Juju Valley was caused by the fact that supporters of the EFF were preventing the ANC from campaigning in the area.

The Azanian can confirm that the police have requested Mpe and his bodyguards to cooperate with the investigators and avail themselves for questioning.

ANC members who opted to remain anonymous said accepting Buthane back to the ANC is a recipe to calamity which will give birth to catastrophe tendencies.

ANC provincial secretary Rueben Madadzhe  said the EFF in the area mobilised a group of their members and criminals who were armed with guns and live ammunition, with the intention of preventing and disrupting the ANC's elections campaign.  He said the armed members and criminals attacked the ANC volunteers led by the regional leadership of the ANC in Peter Mokaba, resulting in 12 people sustaining injuries from gunshots and sharp objects.

Polokwane Mayor Mpe dismissed all allegations levelled against him.
