Bafana Bafana first coach Stanley “Bro Screamer” Tshabalala is recovering in hospital after he was shot by three armed men who held him and his family at gunpoint at his home in Centurion on Wednesday.
A case of house robbery and attempted murder has been opened after the suspects took a laptop and cellphones.
Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo said: “It is reported that three suspects, armed with a firearm and a sharp object, stormed into the victims' house and held him and his family at gunpoint.The suspects then shot Tshabalala and took a laptop and cell phones from the house.”
Family spokesperson Thato Matuka said the Tshabalala family would like to thank the public for their messages of support during this trying times and have asked for privacy while “Bro Stan”is recovering.
He was first coach of the South African national team when the country was readmitted into international soccer in 1992 because of the apartheid regime which violated the rights of the black majority.
