The leader of GOOD Party Patricia de Lille has dismissed the DA’s allegations that she is being captured by the ANC because she is serving in President Cyril Ramaphosa’s cabinet as the Minister of Tourism.
De Lille said this during her party’s election manifesto on Saturday held at the Liliesleaf Farm in Rivonia, Johannesburg.
She said the tradition of appointing opposition party members as Cabinet Ministers was introduced by the late former President Nelson Mandela therefore there is nothing peculiar following her appointment by President Ramaphosa.
Mandela appointed the late IFP leader and founder Mangosuthu Buthelezi as the Minister of Home Affairs and former AZAPO leader Mosibudi Mangena as Minister of Science and Technology.
“These blue liars called the DA who accepted five ambassador posts to serve in the ANC government, they are now saying my accepting a position in the cabinet means GOOD has been captured by the ruling party not to mention that their own leader said recently that he will accept the position in cabinet if offered. A large part of the trouble that South Africa finds itself in, is the product of one trick-pony of an official opposition that for decades has added nothing constructive to fix this country.”
De Lille also promised South Africans that should they put her GOOD party into power, the basic income grant will be R999 unlike the social relief distress grant which was increased from R350 to R370.
"The fact that the R350 is less than half of an adult's needs is a recipe for disaster. If the economy cannot provide for people's basic needs, this responsibility falls on the state to provide. The R1,000 enables them to purchase their initial stock, which they can then then sell at a profit to buy more stock as well as afford their living expenses,” De Lille said.
