Legendary writer, director and producer Mbongeni Ngema (68) of Sarafina fame died in a car crash while on his way back from the funeral in the Eastern Cape.
Nhlanhla Ngema said his brother was a genius who is equal to any task in the art industry. He added that Stimela Sase Zola hit maker will also be remembered for fighting for the struggle through his talent.
The veteran playwright who was born in 1955 in Verulan in Durban is known for his sterling work of producing Woza Albert, Asinamali , Safarina and The Lion King.
He released several albums in the music industry such as Jive Madlokovu, Township Fever, Laduma, Woza My Fohloza which included the hit song Stimela Sase Zola.
He received a lifetime achievement award from the Naledi Theatre Awards in 2014.
