Maseala Progressive School is true testimony that it is better to die for the idea that will live than to live for the idea that will die.

With over the 700 pupils and highly qualified educators who are equal to the task, the community of Limpopo benefits from the private institution which has become a force to be reckoned with under the leadership of its founding Directors of the Institution are Director General Alph Maseala Mohlahlana and his partner Executive Director Gladys Mohlahlana.

Maseala Progressive Secondary School at Legae-La-Batho township, near Polokwane in Limpopo, has obtained a 100% pass rate for the second year on the trot in the 2022 final Independent Examination Board results. Maseala is one of the few township-based IEB schools in the province. The school has been consistently achieving impressive results over last the few years.

Now Maseala Progressive School is synonymous with quality education reflected in a consistently high matric pass rate of above 80%.

Director General Mohlahlana said: “The school has been incepted to provide high quality education to create equal opportunities to the previous disadvantaged individuals that were not accessible previously, which will enable the-development of a productive youth in all sectors of the economy, being owners, managers as well as employable, competitive population of South Africa. This will result in a better community and life for all.”

Executive Director Mohlahlana said:"Maseala Progressive School sees itself growing to be a large entity providing educational facilities that will enable children from disadvantaged backgrounds and all walks of life to become recognized members of society as well as the productive population of South Africa and beyond.”

The name Maseala Originated from a family poem for the expression of joy and

happiness for Mohlahlana Dynasty, after the birth of a newborn baby boy called

"Seala".

Apparently, the family gave the mother of the child the bride's name (Leina la

bongwetsi), And they officially named her "Maseala" (Mmago Seale), That's how the name Maseala Originated. Moreover, the meaning of Seala in our own Culture is an attractive Ornament that you put on the head for royalty e.g. Feather, flower or cloth.

Furthermore, the name Progressive is an additional English name given to the

school for encouraging the school Owners to pursue their vision and Ministry. And it has been used, and we are still using the name "Progressive" to express an action that Continues for a period of time. This is the outcome that the school moved from zero to hero status.

In the year 2000, these two names Le Maseala and Progressive became prominent within the Polokwane social circles. This was the result of two visionary partners who decided to find an independent Leaming Institution.

Enrolment was very low with the school having only 9 learners in the foundation phase (Grade 00 -Gr 3).

The staff complement was mainly constituted by the two founders, with DG Mohlahlana assuming the role of the strategic planner while ED Mohlahlana acted in the capacity of an Educator and Principal. The longest serving member of staff Mrs. Rebecca Chumba was the only auxiliary staff member, and we are proud to say she is still part of the family.

Since 2000 the school made giant strides evident in the first matric class - matriculating in 2010 under the auspices of the IEB.

From the humble beginnings as an understaffed, poorly resourced single campus, the school, under the leadership and vision of the anointed founding couple, evolved into a global village boasting several campuses around Polokwane.

Tomorrow's future on their mission to become leaders.
