Polokwane Municipality under the leadership of Mayor John Makoro Mpe has launched MyPolokwane Citizen App, a revolutionary platform designed to enhance how we engage with our communities and streamline municipal services.
This is not just an app; it is a declaration of our commitment to a modern, smart, and responsive municipality that puts the people of Polokwane first. This innovation embodies our steadfast dedication to transforming Polokwane into a Smart City by 2030. MyPolokwane Citizen App is not just an application; it is a tool of empowerment, a symbol of progress, and a bridge between the municipality and its people.
Mpe who addressed different stakeholders at Jack Botes Hall said: “For years, our citizens have relied on multiple, often fragmented, channels to report service delivery issues - phone calls, emails, WhatsApp messages and physical visits to municipal offices.”
MyPolokwane Citizen App will be an unprecedented leap forward in public safety and security, confirmed Mpe. “We will empower residents to report crime-related activities directly from their locality, bridging the gap between law enforcement and the community. The app will provide a direct link to Community Services Law Enforcement Officers and SAPS, strengthening coordination in crime prevention,” he said.
“But… we are not stopping there. The upcoming phases will also integrate with our municipal CCTV system, allowing for real-time monitoring and a proactive security response. This is a vision of a safer, more secure Polokwane, a city where technology meets law enforcement to create a crime-free environment for all.”
Mayor Mpe said MyPolokwane Citizen App has undergone a rigorous stress test, which has revealed its capability to connect one million users simultaneously. Not only does it handle this massive capacity with ease, but its performance is also faster than most of the well-known search engines.
“We call upon every resident of Polokwane to embrace this innovation, actively participate in shaping our city's future and work with us to build a more responsive and efficient municipality. Let us make Polokwane a model city of technological advancement, excellent service delivery and inclusive governance,” he concluded.
