First Bafana-Bafana coach Stanley “Mr Screamer” Tshabalala was laid to rest today after succumbing to the injuries after he was shot during a house breaking robbery in March this year.
Tshabalala passed away in hospital last Thursday evening, the Soweto club said in an official statement.
Various dignitaries which included his long friend Orlando Pirates Chairman Dr Irvin Khoza, CAF President Patrice Motsepe, Shakes Mashaba, Jomo Sono, Doctor Khumalo, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi, SAFA President Dr Danny Jordan including the newly appointed Minister of Sports, Art, and Culture Gayton McKenzie gathered at the Grace Bible Church to pay their last respect to the 75-year-old soccer legend who was loved by soccer lovers across the country.
The proceeding was at Westpark Cemetery where the burial service took place.
Tshabalala was born in 1949 in Orlando East, and while he became famous because of football, he started out in boxing, thanks to Jerry Moloi.
He is a founding member of Kaizer Chiefs whom he later worked for as an administrator before moving to arch-rivals Orlando Pirates.
