THE real Commander in Chief of ANC Peter Mokaba Region and Polokwane Municipality Mayor John Makoro Mpe received plethora of applause from ANC members who came in large numbers to listen to his intellectually politically pregnant OR Tambo memorial lecture on Saturday at Moletjie Community Hall.
The much-anticipated lecture was attended by various political leaders including Kgoshi Solomon Kgabo Moloto III of the Royal Council of Moletjie Moshate.
Mpe known for his utterances “Modimo o phala baloyi” was applauded by ANC followers when He urged them to emulate Oliver Reginald Tambo the longest ANC President who served from 1967 to 1991. “He was a consummate leader who worked magnanimously without trepidation. He was like his successor President Nelson Mandela. The two leaders are not suffering from entitlement syndrome like some leaders who wanted their families to succeed them. They refused nepotism and counterrevolutionary tendencies. Tambo was a real revolutionary who was not power drunk. He dedicated his life for the ANC. He was a consummate leader who allowed his successor Mandela to lead the ANC when he was released from prison,” Mpe said.
Mpe also reminded ANC volunteers to also respect the freedom fighters like Peter Mokaba , Tsietsi Mashinini, Solomon Mahlangu amongst others who died for freedom just like former anti-apartheid Steve Bantu Biko who could have been the SA President before former SA presidents as a leader of the Black Consciousness Movement.
“It is better to die for the idea that will live that to live for their idea that will die. It will be disingenuous to forget their role because they died for our freedom,” Mpe said.
Makoro who is contesting for the third term took a swipe at his distractors who are gunning for him by playing the man not the ball. He told them to desist from spreading false rumours and organizing nincompoop weak protests which gave birth to political miscarriages following their failed tomfoolery “shut down protests”.
In conclusion, Commander Makoro urged ANC volunteers to subject themselves to serious introspection following the latest national and provincial elective election results which the ANC performed below 50%.
He also said ANC under the leadership of President Cyril Ramaphosa is reinvigorating itself because he is doing everything in power to ensure that his 7th administration of GNU is intact.
Mpe said OR Tambo was clear to utter we have a vision of South Africa in which black and white shall live and work together as equals in conditions of peace and prosperity.
“Racial discrimination, South Africa’s economic power, its oppression and exploitation of all the black peoples, are part and parcel of the same thing.
We are not fighting against people, we are fighting against a system
