The real Commander in Chief of Peter Mokaba Regional Chairperson Region and Polokwane Municipality Mayor John Makoro Mpe.

THE 10th The African National Congress (ANC) Peter Mokaba Regional Conference will take place on 14-15 December 2024.

The ANC in the region held a Special Regional General Council (RGC) on 06 October 2024.

This was confirmed by the regional spokesperson Adolph Rapetswa who said the internal organisational processes towards the Conference will commence once the Region is granted a go-ahead by the Provincial and National leadership of the organisation.

Current Peter Mokaba Regional Chairperson Region and Polokwane Municipality Mayor John Makoro Mpe who is the favourite to retain his seat urged ANC delegates to defuse from gatekeeping tendencies and allow ANC volunteers to peacefully vote for their preferred candidates without trepidation.

Puzzling, Makoro who is favourite to retain his position is contested by his political protege ANCWL provincial chairperson and Capricorn District Mayor Mamodupi Teffo, an ally of Limpopo Premier Poppy Ramathuba.

Rapetswa said: “The purpose of the Special RGC was to consider the Roadmap to the 10th Regional Conference. The last Regional Conference was held in December 2021 and Section 21.3 of the ANC’s Constitution provides that each region shall hold a Regional Conference once every 3 (three) years.”

The Special RGC, which was attended by REC members, Branch Chairpersons and Secretaries agreed for the 10th Regional Conference to take place on 14-15 December 2024. Internal organisational processes towards the Conference will commence once the Region is granted a go-ahead by the Provincial and National leadership of the organisation.

In conclusion, Rapetswa said: “The Special RGC also took a moment to congratulate the Polokwane Sub-region for organising a successful memorial lecture in memory of an outstanding leader of our movement, Cde Oliver Tambo. The memorial lecture, which was held at Moletjie community hall, is an essential part of advancing political education within our ranks and contributing to the ongoing renewal programme of the ANC.”
