Updated: Nov 14

Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba.

Limpopo provincial government led by its first female Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba secured R120 billion in an investment two-day conference which exceeded its target of R100 billion.

Ramathuba who was marshalled by Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure MEC and ANCYL Provincial Chairperson leader Tonny Rachoene and her cabinet heeded to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s call to ensure that the country’s economy is intact to improve the lives of the public received plethora applauds from various stakeholders countrywide and globally without trepidation.

Ramathuba is the true testimony that the essence of absence of the presence is the most potent weapon that at times we don’t need supernatural powers to achieve goals, but we need to use more human capability.

With over 400 delegates in attendance which attracted new investors to demonstrate that Limpopo is equal to the task in showcasing the Limpopo economic development landscapes blessed by its overabundance opportunities in agriculture, agro-processing, tourism, mining, infrastructure. Premier Dr Ramathuba known as “Maswara Dithipa Ka Bogaleng” said: “We can never claim freedom if we created a dependent society. It will be disingenuous to subject the people of Limpopo to unorthodox trends of suppressing their capabilities which are equal to the task because they must be allowed to play an important role to boost the economy of the province, logistics, and automotive and energy. The economy of Limpopo is known for their intellect in agriculture and agro-processing which continues to boost the province’s tourism. Therefore, I put it to you that the Limpopo community has put the country on the map with their knowledge in various fields such as mining and mineral beneficiation, and green energy.”

She also received applause after confirming that the unemployment rate of the province currently stands at 31.4% which is slightly lower than the national average of over 33%, more still needs to be done. And what is more concerning is the expanded unemployment rate which has surged to 47%.

Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure MEC Rachoene  who is known for his genius initiative of Dikgerekgere project service delivery program aimed to revitalize the province's road infrastructure because most roads in Limpopo are gravel and therefore these kinds of interventions are imperative, potent and essential to ensure that the roads remain in good condition, free from potholes, and safe for all road users said: “EXCO members led Limpopo Premier   “Maswara Dithipa Ka Bogaleng” were played an important role following the discussions aimed at among other things to attract investors.  Indeed, we are proud that possible investors have responded well and the Limpopo administration under the leadership of Dr Ramathuba managed to secure R120 billion in investment.”
