RAL debacles put to rest under MEC Rachoene’s leadership

Narcissistic nincompoop demagogues nemeses of progress and counterrevolutionary forces of doom geared to prevent service delivery in Limpopo provincial government’s 7th administration led by Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba ate a humble pie when their wicked twisted mission of causing catastrophe at Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure Department led by MEC Tonny Rachoene failed drastically.

This was evident when the dispute between the former Roads Agency Limpopo Chief Executive Officer Gabriel Maluleke and the agency was amicably resolved, following negotiations between the parties.

Maluleke withdrew his urgent application in the High Court, and Roads Agency Limpopo (RAL) undertook to contribute to his legal costs to close this matter.  Departmental spokesperson Emmanuel Mongwe confirmed that in terms of the settlement Maluleke's employment contract terminated on 31 December 2024, and he leaves RAL with a clean record as RAL agreed to set aside his dismissal and suspension.

This fruitful settlement paves the way for the appointment of the new Board of Directors and a new CEO which will be finalized in due course.  This happened barely a week after MEC Rachoene ticked all the boxes right during his appearance during the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) hearings at the Parliamentary Village and State of the Province Address 2025 debate earlier which was welcomed by the masses.

The Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) in Limpopo Hon Esther Mokwele said the MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure Tonny Rachoene  and his administration were equal to the task after responding to the committee’s questions.

Mokwele who spoke to The Azanian when pressed for comment expressed her satisfaction with Rachoene and his troops after being grilled by Scopa on Wednesday saying that they are taking their work seriously and indeed they are committed to remedy challenges faced by the department.

MEC Rachoene, who is the main shareholder at RAL and was also cited in court papers, welcomes these developments, indicating that the agency will now focus on service delivery. “We would like to thank Maluleke for the constructive way he approached the negotiations between him and RAL, leading to the final resolution of the matter, and we wish him well in his future endeavours. It also comes as a relief that this withdrawal of the application by Maluleke also settles the leave to appeal of the SCA and the Constitutional Court. The Senior Councils of both parties are currently engaging to finalise the details of the settlement,” said MEC Rachoene.

The MEC said however this will allow RAL to fully focus on its core mandate, which is to upgrade roads from gravel to tar. “This is a victory for all parties involved, as the department and its entity will now focus on making our roads drivable. Reality is that our people are in dire need of services, in the space of roads infrastructure. We really appreciate all parties involved for prioritising our people,” said MEC Rachoene.

Meanwhile, Rachoene’s department is moving with speed in implementing Scopa’s recommendations with a view of ensuring that the department attains improved audit outcomes.
