President Cyril Ramaphosa demands profoundness in GNU 7th administration.
The ANC and DA are at each other's throats over the much-anticipated announcement of the national cabinet of Government of National Unity (GNU) during 7th administration which will be led by ANC and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa who was inaugurated last week at the Union Building in Tshwane.
This follows public spats between ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula and DA Federal Chairperson Helen Zille over positions in cabinet. Mbalula said the ANC will not accept ridiculous demands which are leaked to the media calling for the behaviour to cease to exist throwing a javelin at Zille who has been vocal despite that the ANC got more votes than her DA party.
After expanding the coalition to 10 to 18 parties in the National Assembly, President Cyril Ramaphosa on Monday called on political parties in the Government of National Unity (GNU) to prioritise collaboration over internal competition.
Ramaphosa appealed after barely after two new parties, Rise Mzansi and Al Jama-ah, joined the GNU which marks a crucial moment in South African politics, as the GNU now encompasses a broader spectrum of parties.
Both parties joined the African National Congress (ANC), Democratic Alliance (DA), Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), Patriotic Alliance (PA), Good, Pan Africanist Congress (PAC), Freedom Front Plus (FF+), and United Democratic Movement (UDM).
President Ramaphosa said in his weekly newsletter that South Africans made clear with their votes in last month’s elections that they want their elected representatives to put aside narrow interests and work together to build the country warning against internal disputes and power struggles within the GNU, emphasising that accomplishment would be determined by the coalition’s proficiency to rule jointly.
